Test Levels

The purpose of MDTP testing is  to help teachers identify topics and curriculum areas that their students need further review.

Tests are available through CSU San Bernardino which measure readiness for the following various mathematics levels.

(for other test levels please visit the MDTP site)

The Algebra Readiness Test assesses preparation for first year algebra; it can be given at various times during the year before algebra.

The Geometry Readiness Test assesses preparation for geometry and includes concepts studied in first year algebra; it can be given near the end of a first year algebra course.

The Second Year Algebra Readiness Test assesses preparation for second year algebra and includes concepts covered in the geometry and first year algebra courses; it can be given near the end of a geometry course or the beginning of a second year course.  If your students have not taken a course in Geometry, they should be given the Elementary Algebra Readiness test to test their preparedness for a second year algebra course.

The Mathematical Analysis Readiness Test assesses preparation for pre-calculus or other courses at that level; they can be given near the end of a second year algebra course or at the beginning of a pre-calculus course.

The Calculus Readiness Test assesses preparation for calculus; it can be given near the end of a mathematical analysis or pre-calculus course.

Integrated Curriculum assesses readiness for the second year and third year of an integrated mathematics curriculum.  These test are based on the common content of two of the integrated curricula in use in California

MDTP tests can be given at various times throughout mathematics courses. They may be given near the beginning of a course, part way through a course, and at the end of the course.  Teachers determine when to administer MDTP tests to their students.
