Pictures from Summer 2007

I had a pretty crazy few months from June-September, 2007. Below are just some samples of the awesome things I managed to do over the summer, not ranked in any order. And, please keep in mind these are just samples. In all, I took well over 1000 pictures, and almost 100 short video clips. Enjoy!

At the cabin with family

My brother-in-law has a cabin in the woods by a secluded lake up in Washington, and it's AWESOME!

Sailing in the Snark!
Elizabeth by the rope swing
Her husband, Matt. Too bad it was me that won best dive! Your "Dead body being rolled into the lake" was pretty good, though, for the freestyle category.
Gabby She wasn't quite finished drying off yet.

Paddling with family

My step-Dad goes river canoeing all the time, and these are from one of our trips.

This is me, right after I made it through the spot where I fell out last time!
This is me almost swimming.

Lunchtime!
A smashed up boat. It's not at all clear how it got there, or how to get it out.

Pictures from Europe

I spent a month in Europe! Here are some highlights, in no particular order.
A Coruna
L'Arc de Triomphe. Does anyone notice that I'm standing in traffic to take this picture?
This is Bonita, one of my travelling companions who was trying to lift my heavy pack. She's a good little bunny who spent a lot of time in my backpack.
The cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, at night.
The same cathedral, from a distance.
The clocktower.
This is me in Madrid.
The walk/don't walk signs in Dublin.
The Eiffel Tower.
The Magic Fountain in Barcelona.
Me in front of the same fountain, with some sort of wacky shadowing effect.
The oldest working lighthouse in the world, in A Coruna.
Phone booths in London.
Outside the Louvre.
A plaza in Madrid.
Notre Dame, Paris.
Paris at night.
More Paris at night.
Me playing an american pinball machine in a Paris bike shop. The owner of the store thinks I'm an idiot because I didn't seem to have any idea that the Tour de France was ending in Paris that very day!
My first day in Spain.
St. Patrick's cathedral, Dublin.
One of the Paris train stations.

Some good friends

These are just a few of the good friends I was fortunate to spend time with this summer.
These are a pinball buddy, my mathematical sister, her new husband (my mathematical in-law?), and... who's that in the CSUSB shirt?
Hyunsuk and I.
Peter, Eduardo and I.
More buddies.
My good friend Miguel and I.

Doing mathematics in Spain

Part of my trip to Europe was to get some math done. Here are some images that at least prove that I was working on math.
Here is one, here is another one , and a last picture of some collaborative mathematics. Here is a talk I gave.

Hiking in Santiago de Compostela

I took a long hike while in Santiago de Compostela, here are some good pics.
Here is a picture of some nature, and here , and one more.
An awesome forest.
The hillside, and the city.

Climbing Mount Bachelor

I climbed Mount Bachelor with a close friend right before coming back to CA. It really isn't that long of a hike, but it's pretty steep.
The mountain , here is me sucking wind while trying to hike uphill.
Here are some pictures from the summit, looking at the Three Sisters, and Descutes Wilderness.
