Proofs of The Pythagorean Theorem

The Pythagorean Theorem.
(a) In a right triangle with legs a and b and hypoteneuse c,

a2+b2 = c2
(b) If a triangle has sides a, b, and c, and
a2+b2 = c2
then the triangle is a right triangle with hypoteneuse c.

Here are several proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem. The first four require a Java-enabled Web browser. If you don't have one, you will see non-interactive pictures in some cases, and blanks in others.
